Welcome to Kariba's
Kariba’s Restaurant and Coffee House has been one of Ballinasloe’s most popular restaurants since it opened in April 2002.
Named after Lake Kariba, the name comes from a family link with Zimbabwe, formerly Rhodesia in Central Africa. Kariba Dam is one of the largest manmade dams in the world. The dam was constructed in the fifties on the Zambezi river, the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Lake Kariba is the vast reservoir created by the dam.
Located on Society Street, the building, a former jewellers was completely renovated with great care and attention been taken to retain the buildings old world charm. High ceilings, original stone walls and cheerful window display of crockery and antiques greatly enhances the comfortable surroundings of this restaurant. The burning stove, just inside the door is a very welcome sight on a cold day!
